Pregnancy Ravings and Cravings

Well, I'm two days away from my due date and I'm feeling rather uncomfortable. I feel like I've been waiting so long for this baby that now I just really want to meet him. It's really hot here in NY. I don't know how many people are familiar with the east coast but it is really humid! I've taken to retreating into my bedroom (the only room in our house with AC) and just waiting for the baby to be born...

But NO MORE!

Last Friday I decided that I can't wait. I need to do fun things to occupy my time until he graces us with his presence. (Did I mention I can't wait to see his little fingers and toes?) So, the project for today stems from my trip to New York City.
While we were there we went to a restaurant called Mesa Grill. The owner of the restaurant is the one and only Bobby Flay.

If you know one fact about Morgan girls it's probably something about how much we LOVE chocolate. Did you know that my mom has five pounds of chocolate in her kitchen at any given time? Now that's food storage for ya! Given this, you may have guessed that our favorite thing at our restaurant was chocolate. It was Mexican Chocolate Pudding. I've searched high and low for the recipe and I think that I just found it... you wouldn't want me to share it with you, would you? Okay, if you twist my arm; here it is.

* 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
* 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
* 2 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
* 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
* 2 cups plain unsweetened almond milk
* 1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into bits
* 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Now, just mix the first four ingredients together in a saucer. Stir in the almond milk. Bring it to a boil string occasionally. Once it boils stir constantly for one minute then add the butter and vanilla. Refrigerate it and add a dollop of whipped cream on top. Let me know what you think. Or if you tried it. It's worth it.

P.S. I think next time I'll try to thicken it. It wasn't quite as thick as in the restaurant.

New York City- Part I The Sights

Here are just a few of the pretty views that we saw in NYC. It really was a fun place to walk around. There were so many different sights and views of the city.

This is the Brooklyn Bridge. It was near a really fun little pizza place that was Frank Sinatra's favorite. We had good pizza and then took a short walk to a beautiful view.

This was off of the top of a museum. I thought that the buildings were really remarkable to look at.

This is a picture that I took for a taxi cab. The sun was setting and it was even prettier in person.

This is the city at night from the top of the Empire State Building. I felt like Meg Ryan on top of that big beautiful building late at night. It was a beautiful night!

And lastly, the lovely Niagara Falls. We took the Maid of the Mist and there were beautiful views from the boat.

The Birthday Boy

Erik's birthday was the 27th of June. We had a 24 themed party; his favorite TV show. He may be the only 24 year old to have a themed party, but it was stylish! I made Erik a cake that looked like a bomb. It was pretty tasty... and I may have had too much fun making it.

I got Erik some tickets to go on the Maid of the Mist. It is a boat that takes you really close to the falls and it is so much fun! If you ever come to Buffalo you CANNOT miss the Maid of the Mist. It is kind of thrilling to be so close and the view is incredible.

Since his birthday we've been having a lot of fun grilling on Erik's new Weber. We've made chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, and corn on it so far. We really like the summer grilling fun that we've been having.
